i learned where they got 666 from
its from roman numerals

I =1 V=5 X=10 L=50 C=100 D=500

if you add D + C + L+ X + V + I : 500 + 100 + 50 + 10 + 5 + 1,
it equals 666 the number of the beast!

i think the church did this so people would be afraid of math or something.
